Your new role
This is a non-attorney role that provides crucial support to in-house counsels. The responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and maintaining the accuracy of a centralized global database. The role also involves managing legal documentation, executing transactions, and completing complex work requests. The officer participates in legal programs and projects, liaises with other businesses, and stays informed of regulatory changes and developments in law. They conduct independent research and analysis to identify legal solutions and assess risks, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
What you'll need to succeed
Looking for someone who’s spent a good 6-10 years in the industry, ideally with some time in an in-house legal role in financial services. You should be a whiz at handling complex documents and have a knack for project management. You’ll need to be comfortable with Microsoft Office and have basic PC skills. A good understanding of legal customs and practices and the financial services industry is a must. A Bachelor’s degree is needed, a Master’s degree would be a bonus. You should be able to chat in both English and Japanese. Experience with specific financial related documentation/negotiation is required, and if you’ve dealt with other similar agreements, that’s a plus. And of course, strong communication and teamwork skills are key.
