Your new role

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations for Japan, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local labor laws and tax regulations
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and ensure service-level agreements are met
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external partners to support audits, reporting, and process improvements
  • Lead payroll-related projects such as system upgrades, automation, and integration with HRIS (e.g., Workday)
  • Ensure accurate calculation and payment of salaries, bonuses, and statutory deductions
  • Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures in line with legal and organizational changes
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on payroll-related matters
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management and regulatory purposes


What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll operations, preferably in a multinational or fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese labor law, social insurance, and tax regulations
  • Experience managing payroll vendors and working with HRIS systems
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English (both written and spoken)
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience in team leadership or mentoring is a plus
