Your new role
- Act as the primary legal contact for Japan and APAC‑related matters
- Provide legal advice across business lines including asset servicing, investment management, and financial products
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements including client, vendor, and internal documentation.
- Advise on Japanese regulatory and legislative developments impacting the business
- Support corporate governance matters, including board activities and internal policies
- Manage relationships with external counsel and oversee legal spending and deliverables
- Partner with business, compliance, and risk teams to support strategic initiatives and ensure regulatory alignment.
What you'll need to succeed
- 7–10 years of legal experience (law firm and/or in‑house)
- Strong knowledge of Japanese legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly within financial services
- Experience in asset management, custody, banking, or related industries preferred
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills
- Native‑level Japanese and business‑level English
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and operate in a fast‑paced, international environment
