Your new role

• Oversee the preparation of periodic financial reports, including reconciliation of key accounts and review of asset and inventory records to ensure data integrity.
• Manage incoming and outgoing financial obligations, including vendor disbursements, receivables tracking, and compliance-related remittances.
• Lead planning cycles by coordinating financial projections and resource allocation strategies across operational and strategic domains.
• Monitor financial performance through comparative analysis of actual results versus planned targets, identifying trends and deviations.
• Maintain liquidity oversight by preparing cash flow summaries and internal reporting packages for leadership review.
• Develop and implement standardised operating procedures tailored to the Japan office, ensuring alignment with global practices while addressing local regulatory and operational nuances.

What you'll need to succeed

• Holds a university-level qualification in a finance-related discipline such as business, commerce, or accounting.
• Demonstrates over five years of hands-on experience in financial operations, ideally within consumer-facing sectors like retail or digital commerce.
• Possesses working knowledge of local accounting standards and tax regulations in Japan, with practical exposure to compliance matters.
• Exhibits precision in numerical tasks and maintains strong organisational habits in administrative workflows.
• Comfortable using English in professional settings, including written documentation, verbal communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Brings a structured yet adaptable mindset, with the ability to analyse data, solve problems, and work effectively across teams.
• Must have business level Japanese and English
